Literature Text

It’s the same feeling
As you get
When you see a boat on land.

Its old, rusted
And possibly decaying.
Its wooden panels have fallen.

But you still wonder
What life it lived?
And where its haul has traveled.

You wonder if its there
Because of some remote injury.
Or because of a newer model that came out.

Was it replaced?
Or has it been abandoned?
Maybe a little of both?

You’ll still never know
No matter how much you think about it.
But then you’ll realize its not your problem.

Just something to be left to another,
And something for only its owner to know
Who really cares anyway.
hmm...
I'd have to say it was inspired by a picture i found on this website. I think it may have been a daily deviation or not. Non-the-less it captured a emotion you see when you take witness to decomposition, rotting, and rust. The sense of wonder you find in it, the sense that this object has been places you will never go. The idea that it was once a reqularly used part of someones life, and that now its abandoned.
